V Rising: How to get fish oil
Although you may not find much use for fish oil early on in V Rising, it becomes a valuable resource in the middle and late game for refining flawless leather, which is required for crafting high-level Dawnthorn Armor and Sanguine weaponry. Fish oil, like many other resources in V Rising, can be obtained in a variety of ways. You can either loot it from enemy encampments or make your own by using your Devourer to break down fish.
Where to find fish oil
Many enemy camps near Dunley Farmland will dump fish oil, but Mosswick Village, depicted above, is the most common location. If you're new to Dunley Farmland, bear in mind that Mosswick Village is a risky place to visit, therefore we recommend raising your Gear Score to the mid-40s if you intend to fight your way through town. Alternatively, you can use either your Human Form or your Rat Form to be more discrete.
How to craft fish oil
The safest technique to obtain fish oil, on the other hand, does not include fighting or sneaking into any settlements. You can simply fish at one of the game's many fishing areas with a trusted Devourer, then return to your castle and break the fish down into bones and oil.
This is especially useful for getting rid of any of the more common fish you could catch when seeking a Twilight Snapper. It's worth noting, though, that rarer fish will yield more minerals when dismantled. Fat Gobies and Fierce Stingers will give you one fishbone and six fish oil, while Twilight Snappers and Golden River Bass will give you one bone, ten fish oil, and twenty scales.
