Destiny 2: How to complete Sever – Shame

During the Season of the Haunted, the Sever-Shame activity is available in Destiny 2 as you go through the Bound in Sorrow quest. Here, you'll be collaborating with crucial members of your Guardian team to break Calus' grip on the lunar Pyramid, preventing him from conquering it and forging a stronger link with the Darkness. This guide will show you how to finish the Sever-Shame quest with Crow.

How to complete Sever – Shame

Before trying the Severance ritual with Crow, you'll be in the Leviathan's Underbelly attempting to set Ritual Amplifiers. While everything is going on, Crow will be pursued by the Nightmare of Uldren, who will question his every move. When you arrive, follow the waypoint to the first Ritual Amplifier site. You must destroy the connecter that is located above the door.

Return to the original hallway and descend to where the red tunnel can be seen. To the left of the entrance is a hallway with two connectors. Destroy them, then return to the red tunnel to crouch through it and continue to the next destination. Continue through the tube until you reach a pile of white pods on the other side. If you destroy them, you'll be able to enter the armory.

Multiple Cabal Loyalists working for Calus will be on the other side. You'll have to fight your way through them until the power goes out, and then you'll have to endure the waves of foes that attack you, finally pushing them back so the electricity can be turned back on. A waypoint will indicate where you need to go next after you've survived all of the waves. If you follow the waypoint, you'll find Crow and his Nightmare. Before proceeding, wait for the discussion to end. Follow the next waypoint after Crow and the Nightmare have exchanged chats. It takes you to a panel that you must override manually. When you interact with it, the power will be restored.

The next waypoint will appear, and you'll need to locate another pod pile in order to progress through the mist. Turn around down to the right of your waypoint. You'll find a connecter you can destroy to uncover a doorway, as well as a pod you can destroy to gain access through the mist. Destroy the barrels past the mist, then make your way through the pipes, avoiding the hot exhausts that are attempting to cook you. When you get to the next region, you'll find another Ritual Amplifier.

The following waypoint will lead you to another Manual Control interface. Unfortunately, you'll need to activate four power sources scattered over the previous region, when you were fighting the Cabal in the dark and struggling to stay alive. However, as you attempt to activate these switches, you will be pursued by an Unrelenting Nightmare. Unless you find the wrench, which is the circular waypoint on your HUD, one of the switches will be unreachable. Bring the wrench all the way to the last waypoint. While avoiding the Unrelenting Nightmare, search for a valve that appears similar to the one where you found the wrench.

After all of the manual overrides have been activated, you can move on to the next waypoint. In the next chamber, you'll come upon Scorn. After you fight them, you'll find a passageway behind them with a connector on the left side. When you destroy it, a door will appear beneath the connector. Follow the trail until you reach a fan, then leap up to join Crow and his Nightmare in performing the Sever ceremony. The Nightmare of the Fanatic will emerge once the Ritual is complete. You'll have to defeat it and track it down through the arena's various gateways.

If you are defeated by the Fanatic or die during this stage, you must retreat to the arena's outskirts. In order to do so, you must defeat all of the minions in the inner arena and summon the Scythe. Then, in the center, destroy the minions that spawn from the left and right doorways, and a portal will appear. Continue fighting the Nightmare by passing through it. After defeating it, return to the central location and use your Bound Presence to unlock the chest, completing the Sever objective.
