Sea of Thieves: How to farm Doubloons
Although gold is the primary money in the Sea of Thieves, don't overlook the blue Doubloons. Players can use the coins they earn by doing various activities related to the Bilge Rats company to buy cosmetics from the many stores on Outposts or to purchase trips, promotions, and other jobs from Larinna, the Bilge Rats' representative. To get these Doubloons, you'll have to complete some more specific objectives. If you want to amass a large number of these blue coins, we have a few ideas for you.
Go commendation hunting
Select the Bilge Rats entry in your Pirate Log's Reputation section. There, you'll find a large number of in-game commendations that will assign you to various tasks. Some have a single goal, such as preparing meat, whereas others are multi-graded and long-term. With the little blue hexagon icon, you'll see that a commendation gives you Doubloons.
When new features, such as Sea Forts, are added to Sea of Thieves, expect a new set of commendations to accompany them. Grab some buddies and work on commendations together, focusing on the ones that correspond to your game interests — for example, spend a whole session looking for Skeleton Thrones and sitting on them.
Do your daily tasks
Go to the current season in your Pirate Log and look under Events for Daily Deeds. The most common rewards for completing these dailies are gold and season Renown, but you can also earn Doubloons on occasion. Check each play session to see if it's the case on that particular day.
Sell to the Bilge Rats (or Reaper’s Bones)
You'll collect loot as you go on adventures and participate in world events. Ashen loot, such as Ashen Chests (and their keys), Ashen Tomes, Rag & Bone Crates, and Ritual Skulls, should be sought for. Selling them to Larinna will get you some Doubloons, but you might consider selling them in the Reaper's Hideout instead. You can also earn Doubloons by selling Reaper's Chests, which cost 25 Doubloons each and can only be sold at the Hideout.
Other ways to get Doubloons
Season Progress includes Doubloons as well, and you don't need to buy the expensive Plunder Pass to receive them. At certain times, you can also earn Doubloons by playing the Insider version of Sea of Thieves.
