Sea of Thieves: How to find Veil Stones

In Sea of Thieves, being a Pirate Legend has its benefits, but it's essentially just an opportunity for veteran gamers to have more to do in the finale. Only Pirate Legends can purchase and propose the Legend of the Veil Voyage, though any player in a party with a Pirate Legend can participate. This is a multi-step quest with some randomization, as with other sorts of Voyages in Sea of Thieves. However, we'll walk you through all of your options. Essentially, your main goal in Legend of the Veil is to collect three Veil Stones and place them in the Veil of the Ancients. Purchase this quest for 250 gold from the Pirate Lord in the secret Athena's Fortune hideout (only Pirate Legends may access this area) and vote on it aboard your ship. The Pirate Lord will provide some background information, show you the Veil of the Ancients, and hand you a book containing your mission logs. The first two Veil Stones can be collected through three different tasks; the third Veil Stone can be obtained through a battle towards the conclusion.

Sudds Veil Stone quest

Sudds, an astronomer and the North Star Seapost merchant, may be mentioned at the end of your Quest Book. Sudds was aboard The Crooked Masts in our first example, so the book will tell you where to look for him. Prepare to track him down and conduct some map reading to put your knowledge of the Sea of Thieves universe to the test. Once you've located Sudds on the correct island, speak with him. He'll add to your quest book and give you one of several various kinds of maps.

• Like a standard Sea of Thieves map, our example above depicts a distinct island with an X that marks the area, but this one is zoomed in, so you'll have to figure out which island this is first.
• A graphical map is another Sudds puzzle option: instead of displaying you the island's environment, this image in your book will be a first-person perspective sketch that will test your recollection of crucial game locations. These sketches will take up two pages of your book and will include a symbol indicating where the Veil Stone should be dug.
• Finally, there is a map with a variety of symbols in the last possible Sudds puzzle. These symbols match rock and wall art. The goal is to figure out which map symbol is incorrect and not truly there; this is where you'll find the Veil Stone's burial spot.

Belle Veil Stone quest

The location of the character Belle, like Sudds, will be at the end of your Quest Book. Sailing to that island will reveal an awful dreadful atmosphere surrounding it. On the island, look for Belle and speak with her; she will give you an Enchanted Lantern. In short, your mission is to light braziers on six ancient sculptures, the first of which is located next to Belle; however, you can only see these statues while holding the Enchanted Lantern. You'll notice pillars of light over the remaining statues when you initially start this job. These won't last forever, but they're a nice place to start, and your Lantern will work as a sort of sensor for these statues. If you just have one or two left, this may take some time, so comb the island and keep your lamp up; try not to sprint too much, as sprinting may reduce your lantern.

One final pillar of light will appear on the island after the final brazier is lit. Ancients are performing a ceremony around that statue, but Phantoms will appear and attack you and the Ancients. It will be a long fight, especially if you are the only member of your crew, but the Ancients will (sort of) assist you. You'll eventually face a battle against the Soulflame Captain if you have enough fruit. One of the Ancients will gift you a Veil Stone when you fight this final miniboss.

Shipwreck Veil Stone quest

This mission is similar to other shipwreck encounters in the game, however, it includes a Veil Stone. Check your Quest Book for directions, and look for the flock of seagulls flying in a circle, as usual. Several ships will be sunk in this disaster. The Veil Stone will be found in the Grim Fortune's Captain's Quarters. First, use the nameplates above the Captain's Quarters door to identify the ship. Then look for the Ships Log on that ship. This will increase the number of pages in your Quest Book and reveal which ship has the Grim Fortune's Key. Identify the ship indicated in the Ships Log and move objects about to seek every nook and crevice for the key. You can then obtain a Veil Stone using that key.

Final Veil Stone – Ghost Fort battle

You'll have to fight a ship combat after getting two Veil Stones and placing them in the Legend of the Veil. It'll be easy to spot if you follow the Pirate Lord's advice and search for the massive cyclone in the distance. Set sail for it. You'll come across eerie sea fort emplacements surrounded by ghost ships. You have the option of fighting the ghost ships or concentrating on destroying the forts. After defeating the three surrounding emplacements with five cannonballs apiece, you'll smash the final fort, which will emerge after the tornado stops. To finish this final ghost fort, use the same method. The final Veil Stone to place in the Veil of the Ancients will be your reward at the end.
