V Rising: How to heal

Would you like to learn how to heal in V Rising? V Rising may turn you into a powerful vampire, but you'll be thrust into a cruel world where everything is out to kill you. As you explore and construct in this survival MMO, you'll lose health from deadly plants to brutal sunshine. If you die, practically all of your materials and things in your inventory will be lost, potentially wasting hours on failed supply missions. In this article, we'll show you how to heal in V Rising so you can recoup your health and be prepared for battle.

How to heal in V Rising

In V Rising, there are several ways to heal, but Blood Mend is the most straightforward. To use this skill, hold down the CTRL key while pressing the ALT key. This opens a radial menu with a number of talents, including Blood Mend. Many of your blood powers will only become available as you go through V Rising, but Blood Mend is available right away. This means that you can use Blood Mend to heal from the start, regardless of how far into the game you are.

If you choose Blood Mend, be mindful that your character will briefly stop and hang in place as they heal. As a result, you're more vulnerable to hostile strikes. Blood Mend's effects will be lost if you move, so choose a shaded place away from attackers to recover securely. Blood Mend will deplete your Blood Pool, which is the amount of blood you have on hand. When your Blood Pool reaches zero, you will no longer be able to heal and will begin to take damage.

If your Blood Pool is empty and you need to heal quickly, either leech blood from a nearby creature or search your inventory for a blood-restoring item, such as a heart or a dead rat. If you have pals on the same server, you can also request that an ally reveal their veins for you, allowing you to drink their blood. It's worth noting that sucking blood from another species can change your blood type, whilst consuming goods from your inventory can turn it back to fragile. If you've discovered a particularly helpful blood type, keep an eye on your Blood Pool as you heal to avoid it dropping to zero.

If you don't want to empty your Blood Pool, there are other options for healing. You can make a variety of healing salves and potions for your character to take. These are more expensive, but they do not drain blood and are easier to use. As a result, they are extremely useful in combat. You can manufacture the Vermin Salve right away using the inventory crafting menu, but as you continue and earn more crafting stations, you'll unlock other potions.
