BBQ jackfruit sandwich recipe: How to make a BBQ jackfruit sandwich
The nicest part of cooking is getting your hands filthy and giving your food lots of attention. This is particularly true for canned jackfruit since you must first empty the water out before draining each piece because they are submerged in a pool of water. Imagine it as grape-stomping with your hands instead of a foot and jackfruit in place of grapes. Since the jackfruit chunks had been sitting in the can, I immediately rinsed them with water from my sink. After doing so, I placed them in my skillet with a couple teaspoons of grape seed oil and started following Brown's instructions to squeeze the extra water out with my palms. Unripe jackfruit smells sweeter than ripe jackfruit, which can make you think twice before letting it fill your house with odors.
I quickly added the fruit to the skillet with the grape seed oil, followed by the vinegar, maple syrup, coconut aminos, garlic powder, and organic all-purpose salt-free spice. With a fork, I shred the jackfruit a little to resemble pulled pork as I sautéed it with the seasonings in the pan. I then cooked it until the edges started to become a little crispy. Soon after, I added my pre-made BBQ sauce (keep tuned for a homemade sauce in the future? ), and I let it cook for an additional 15 minutes so that the flavors could meld. When the jackfruit's texture and color change, you'll be able to determine when it's ready to be served.
When I was satisfied with the way my jackfruit looked (and tasted), I generously topped my potato bread with it. A portion of the coleslaw was placed on top of the jackfruit after I combined two cups of shredded cabbage with vegan mayonnaise, a little bit of sugar, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Everything was then prepared for eating! The entire preparation took around 30 to 40 minutes, and the meal is perfect for a leisurely afternoon picnic or barbecue.
