Cuphead DLC: How to unlock and beat the secret Angel and Devil boss
The Delicious Last Course by Cuphead introduces a sizable number of new bosses, however, there is one optional battle that is not revealed. You will receive the accomplishment or trophy What A Horrible Night to Have A Curse as well as the satisfaction of cracking the code and defeating another challenging boss when you unlock and successfully complete this hidden encounter. Here's how to carry out both.
How to unlock the Angel and Devil boss fight
Purchase the Broken Relic from Porkrind's Emporium as the first step. It will only cost you one penny, and its abilities are still unknown. Now, in order to access the hidden boss battle, you must first travel to the graveyard next to The Howling Aces boss battle at the bottom of the map. To reach here, you'll need to fight two bosses: the Moonshine Mob and Esther Winchester if you're traveling counterclockwise, or Glumstone the Giant and Mortimer Freeze if you're traveling clockwise. As an alternative, you can take the unmarked route that leads to the town's winners' stand on the left. You can get there without facing any bosses if you move through the trees and cross the bridge.
The winners' stand is crucial since it will provide you with hints on how to unravel the mystery of the tombstones. Examining one causes a ghost to become active, therefore you must activate the right trio. The first place winner instructs you which gravestone to investigate first, and so forth, according to the three winners (the picture above was the sequence for us; see our Graveyard Puzzle guide for more information). When all three locations are successfully tapped, the central tombstone will light. You'll be prompted to "take a nap" if you examine it. If you say yes, the secret boss encounter will start in a dream state.
How to beat the Angel and Devil boss
Even though this battle is only in its initial stages, it is by no means simple. The trick is that whenever you switch your facing, the angel and the devil switch places. The angel is constantly behind you, and the devil is always in your direction. Since you're continuously confronting the devil, it makes it natural that only he sustains an injury. The only one whose attacks actually cause harm is the devil. Both will spit missiles, however, the angels' spit will be harmless bubbles, and the devils will be lethal fireballs. The idea is to always be prepared to dodge both; doing so assures that even if you swap sides, you won't be hit. Sometimes these come out pink and can be parried.
A moving energy beam is the other assault to be on the lookout for. When you're facing the devil, it's innocuous, but if you turn your gaze elsewhere, it turns into a column of flame. You can either ride the moving cloud to avoid it or remain still and let it pass by you when it's harmless. You'll be in good shape if you just keep in mind to confront the devil at every turn. Watch out for the moving cloud as well because the lightning underneath it can be dangerous.
