Final Fantasy XIV: How to transfer HUD settings between characters

It's an art to finalize all of your favorite UI details in Final Fantasy XIV. You'll want to make sure you can see the chat window, hotkeys, menu options, and party readout, as well as all of the vital information for your character's class. Unfortunately, finding the ideal HUD settings takes effort, and these settings do not transfer over when you create a new character. What is the best way to exchange UI settings between characters?

The procedure is a little difficult. In your game, you don't have a direct option for it. Instead, you'll have to look for it on your computer.  You can do this by navigating to where you keep Final Fantasy XIV in your files, which you can do by navigating from Your PC > Documents >My Games > Final Fantasy XIV – A Realm Reborn.  Even if you're playing on Steam, you should do this. When you get to this page, check for a file with the name "FFXIV CHR....," and several numbers after the CHR section of the file.

Each of those files will represent one of your character's numerous personalities. If you just have one character, there will be only one file available, but if you have more than one, it will be difficult to figure out which one it is. By rapidly logging in with a character, returning to this page, and then clicking any of the FFXIV CHR files and selecting the "log" folder within them, you may find out which character is which file. You'll see a list of numerous logs that shows when you last signed in with that character. The character you used in Final Fantasy XIV will be the one with the most recent date.

Now, go into the HUD file you want to utilize and copy all of the DAT files you see underneath the log folder after determining which character is on that file. Take them all, put them in the folder of the Final Fantasy XIV game you want to have the same HUD style as your main account, and replace the files there with the ones you copied from your main account. After you've copied those across, you may log into the game as usual, and your new character should have the same UI as your primary one. You can do this for every character you create in Final Fantasy XIV.
