Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak: How to Beat Malzeno

Malzeno is one of the most difficult opponents in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. This vampire-like dragon is one of Monster Hunter's most distinctive foes, and it serves as Sunbreak's flagship, representing the entire expansion. It's included in the current Sunbreak demo, and it's similar to the demo version of Basic Rise's Magnamalo in terms of having a short time limit and tremendous skills. While there are a variety of ways to beat the demo in the allotted time, from heavy Wyvern Riding to swapping in the new Switch Skills beforehand, defeating Malzeno is a challenging challenge in and of itself. Players will require exceptional response time and even more skill to defeat Malzeno.

Malzeno’s Attacks and Attributes

Malzeno's assaults can cause Dragonblight, but Bloodblight is the most important status ailment it can cause. This will gradually deplete the hunter's health and reduce the effectiveness of their restorative goods. Even the most powerful potions will only heal half of what they should. Instead, players must concentrate on hitting Malzeno, with each hit restoring a percentage of their health. This state will be inflicted by several of Malzeno's attacks, particularly its tail thrusts. It doesn't last long, and it can't be healed with Nulberries, therefore only those who are most afflicted by Dragonblight should keep some on hand.

Malzeno attacks with its tail, legs, wings, and mouth in its basic form. It will frequently fly into the air for a brief while before slamming down using either its front legs or tail. The smash with its front legs causes significant damage, whereas the slam with its tail is followed by a forceful push. It will occasionally shoot a crimson energy ball beneath itself before launching it directly at the hunter. Malzeno will slam at the player with its wings or swipe at them with its tail when on the ground. Hunters should avoid the tail at all costs, as its swiping movements can be very effective, even when utilized after a grounded thrust.

Malzeno has a variety of ranged attacks in addition to its physical strikes. It can call red butterflies to form energy balls that seek out hunters, and it can use its wings to create long-range shockwaves that launch the player into the air. It can utilize the latter attack while standing up, which causes the energy balls to focus on a specific target. Malzeno may also focus a burst of red energy, causing the ground in front of it to erupt. The bombardment of grounded energy beams it can fire is its trickiest ranged assault. They'll occasionally fire in an arc, and other times they'll bend inward. These beams will always be shot in front of Malzeno, therefore players should keep close to it or off to the side or back of the dragon.

Malzeno's other strikes include a pin that allows it to drink the hunter's blood and a variety of simple biting assaults. When angered, it will become more aggressive, which should come as no surprise to long-time players. Its most terrifying or dangerous aspect is not the red-eyed glare it takes on. Malzeno will take on a new form with powers never seen before in Monster Hunter history after some time spent fighting the vampiric dragon.

Malzeno’s Transformed State

Malzeno's neck, arms, and tail will glow crimson in their changed state. Attacking these sections enough times, just like Magnamalo, will cause Malzeno to tumble over, kicking it out of its transformation. Malzeno, on the other hand, is one of the deadliest monsters a hunter can confront as long as it is in this form. It will begin to repeat several of its assaults, such as wing slams, ranging shockwaves, and flying tail thrust. It also receives a new mode of transport. Malzeno will disappear and resurface close to its target after wrapping itself in its wings, preparing to strike them with some of its most powerful techniques. Hunters must concentrate on avoiding when Malzeno uses this ability, or they will be defeated quickly.

Malzeno will finally perform one more very powerful move if hunters are unable to knock it out of this form. It will take to the air and fire a fast red laser in a circle toward the ground. It will then hurl a gigantic crimson ball to the ground. It will unleash two waves of grounded energy beams once it bursts. It's not tough to avoid if you're far enough away, but it may be a devastating attack if you're right in the middle of it.

How to Beat Malzeno

The arms, neck, and skull of Malzeno are its weakest portions. It's risky to stay in front of it, but it's the greatest way to deal with damage and maintain track of its movements. Malzeno is particularly vulnerable when using its wing slam; it takes a long time to recover from the attack, and if you go too near to its side, it can easily overrun you. Many of Malzeno's strikes can be blocked, though, like the electric wyvern Astalos, his speed and might make blocking with inferior weapons feel pointless. To stay up with the dragon's pace, players need to employ a relentless assault, employing their most powerful strikes and counters. As an added advantage, blunt weapons will be particularly effective against Malzeno; even if they miss the head, Hammers and Hunting Horns are likely to hit its arms or neck, causing maximum damage.

To defeat Malzeno, players should not rely exclusively on their own ability. Palicos and Palamutes, especially with new skills like the Palico's Lottery Box, can be unexpectedly useful in fighting the dragon. Keep in mind that Malzeno is still an Elder Dragon, so traps aren't going to aid you much. Malzeno's limbs can be fractured in a variety of ways. While this won't help much in terms of reducing its damage, it will usually cause the dragon to stagger, leaving it vulnerable to future assaults. During the combat, Malzeno may flee to attack a smaller monster on the map, draining its energy with the help of butterflies. In this state, it's wide open to attacks, therefore hunters should take advantage of it. It won't be easy, but by putting everything they know to good use and understanding the dragon's most lethal strikes, they can defeat Malzeno!
