Nintendo Switch: How to remap your controller
Nintendo is notorious for not allowing players to deviate from the company's original concepts in their games. When it comes to game controls, creators prefer to keep everything consistent. Nintendo, on the other hand, is beginning to implement more user-friendly features that allow you to customize things according to your preferences. On the Nintendo Switch, here's how to remap your controller.
How to remap your controller on Nintendo Switch
To remap your controller, make sure your Switch is at least version 10.0.0. Click the Gear icon (system settings) on the Home Screen and scroll down to Controllers and Sensors. Change Button Mapping should be near the top of the menu. When you click it, it will show you all of the controllers that are currently attached to the Switch on the left. This feature is only available on Nintendo first-party controllers and the Switch Lite. Any additional controllers will be ignored. During the mapping procedure, the Joy-Cons are automatically separated. You can remap each Joy-Con individually by clicking on it and setting it to show horizontally.
You'll see an image of all the buttons on your controller, as well as Control Stick Settings in the center, which allows you to alter the thumbsticks, when you choose which controller to change. Select a button to alter it, and a choice will appear asking where you want that input to go. Before you can save your modifications, you must map some buttons. Your modifications will take effect as soon as you hit Done, and you'll be taken back to the controller selection screen. Under Change, you'll note that you can now return your controller to its default configuration, save the mapping for later use, or load a previously stored mapping layout.
It's unusual for Nintendo to include such a user-friendly choice. It normally prefers to keep players playing its games the way it intended, so if you find any of its games to be unpleasant, make sure to take advantage of the new feature and play the way you wish.
