Star Citizen: How to get the Subscriber Ship of the Month

While Star Citizen has a lot of content, the opportunity to fly fully realistic ships across the cosmos is the game's main attraction. Robert Space Industries takes advantage of this by offering a one-of-a-kind subscription program that provides subscribers with a new ship to fly each month while their subscription is active. However, figuring out how to claim the ship can be tough at first. While the program provides a dozen operational ships each year, a few gamers are having difficulty getting the ship into the hangar.

Star Citizen subscriptions, explained

Subscriptions do not provide access to the game on their own; instead, they are for users who have already purchased a pledge package. Players with game access can choose between two subscription tiers in Star Citizen.

The Centurion subscription tier

The Centurion tier costs $10 a month and includes the Ship of the Month, 20,000 REC (Star Citizen's currency for renting items), and a 10% one-time-use coupon after 12 months of subscription. Other benefits include access to various art pieces from the Star Citizen world, unique forums, and exclusive merchandise deals, however, these are less concrete.

The Imperator subscription tier

The Imperator tier is available for $20 per month. After 12 months of subscription, this tier also includes access to the Ship of the Month, 40,000 REC, and a 20% one-time-use discount. This tier, on the other hand, includes an Imperator test flight, during which pilots can fly newly prepared ships for a week.

How to claim your Ship of the Month

Every month, the Ship of the Month will rotate, and only subscribers will be able to purchase (or pledge, as the developer Cloud Imperium Games prefers to call it) the previous month's ship. Players should be able to find the Ship of the Month at their nearest spaceport terminal once they've subscribed.

Don't worry about kicking the proverbial tires because the subscription includes unrestricted usage of the monthly ship, whether it's a new mining machine or an all-terrain vehicle. Finally, some of the ships in the Ship of the Month club are exclusively available to subscribers.
