Destiny 2: How Scorch works

Scorch is a form of damage in Destiny 2 that you can deal with your adversaries. You can do that whenever you use your character's Solar subclass skills. Scorch's mechanics are a little vague, although many Bounties may compel you to provide this kind of damage to any adversary or use it as a last resort. Here's everything you need to know about Scorch's mechanics in Destiny 2.

What is Scorch damage?

Scorch is a DoT effect that you can employ to do damage to an adversary. It usually happens when you employ one of your Guardian's class skills, such as your ranged melee or grenade special, against an adversary. When you hit an adversary with these effects, they will almost certainly start to burn, which is known as Scorch damage. It debuted as part of the Solar 3.0 update for Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted. This update added the Scorch and Ignite keywords to all Guardian Solar classes.

When an enemy gets Scorched, they will receive damage for the duration of the combat until it is removed. They will Ignite if they receive too many Scorch ticks during combat. When this happens, the enemy explodes briefly, hitting adjacent adversaries with fire and giving them a Scorching effect, while the enemy who Ignites takes a considerable amount of damage at the same time. Some Guardian abilities can Ignite an enemy while dealing Scorching damage, however, this is not always the case. Depending on the Fragments you've activated on your character, you can add more Scorch stacks to an adversary during combat.

When checking your Guardian's inventory, you can review your chosen Solar skills under the Solar Subclass menu. If you plan to focus on stacking Scorch against adversaries, make sure the fragments, grenade abilities, and aspects line up to offer you with an adequate composition that complements each other.
