Raft: How to distract and kill sharks
With most of your battle taking place at sea, Raft offers a slightly different perspective on the survival genre. You must make an effort to survive after finding yourself adrift and alone, floating on a little raft in the middle of a vast ocean. But before you know it, your raft could turn into its very own paradise. But first, you'll have to put in some effort to gather supplies and battle off adversaries, particularly sharks. You'll need to divert or kill sharks if you want your raft to actually make it there as it isn't yet strengthened. This guide explains how to cope with sharks and how to fortify your raft to make it shark-proof if you or your raft don't want to become its next victim.
How to distract and kill sharks in Raft
Every five minutes, sharks will assault your raft in Raft. Therefore, if you were planning to relax while floating to the closest radio tower, you would regrettably have sharks disturbing the calm. With each bite from a shark assault, you lose 30 HP, meaning four bites will kill you. The beast will also assault your raft, and if you don't get enough help, it can even succeed in destroying it.
Distracting a shark in a raft
You'll need shark bait to entice a shark. The ingredients are as follows:
- 2x Rope
- 2x Raw Herring or 2x Raw Pomfret
The wooden fishing pole can be used to catch these fish because better rods will catch bigger fish rather than the Pomfrets or Herrings you require. Throw shark bait into the water as soon as you have it available to keep sharks occupied. They won't bite you or your boat as long as they're taking care of the bait. However, keep in mind that shark bait only works for about a minute before the five-minute countdown to a shark attack begins.
How to kill a shark in Raft
You can simply kill sharks if you're sick to death of them. In order from least effective to most effective, you can attack them with the following craftable weapons:
- Wooden Spear
- Metal Spear
- Stone Arrow
- Machete
- Metal Arrow
To successfully attack a shark once you've leaped into the water and drawn its attention, you must attack its nose as they open its mouth. You must use caution to fend off any oncoming shark attacks because failing to do so will probably result in you being bitten. Keep in mind that four bites will kill you. After a shark is killed, it takes around three minutes for another to spawn. Overall, unless you truly want the 4x Raw Shark Meat and Shark Head that are dropped upon killing a shark, it might be best to keep them occupied.
How to make your raft shark-proof in Raft
You'll need to attach Foundation Armor to your raft's bottom in order to partially shark-proof it. Armor is only effective if it is positioned on outer foundations. You need the following materials to make Foundation Armor:
- 2x Nail
- 1x Metal Ingot
Although Foundation Armour increases the amount of damage your raft can absorb, it won't stop sharks from attacking or destroying your raft. As a result, your raft will be somewhat less in danger and you will have a bit more time to cope with sharks. Use shark bait or kill them to keep them at bay after strengthening your raft. You can also play in Peaceful mode, where the sharks will no longer attack if they are really getting to you.
