The Quarry: How to hold your breath
In previous Supermassive Games games, such as Until Dawn, there were challenges requiring you to keep the controller stationary to hide from a monster or other threat. That isn't the case in The Quarry, which instead incorporates "don't breathe" moments. As the name suggests, these are situations in which you must hold your breath or risk things going wrong. While you won't be able to hold your breath at any point during The Quarry, you'll still want to know how to complete these difficulties. Continue reading to find out everything you need to know.
Don’t breathe moments in The Quarry, explained
Don't breathe moments are clearly indicated by a button to press and hold on the screen. To get through the encounter successfully, you must hold your breath until the threat is past. When it's safe to let go, the game gives you visual and audio indications. To begin, simply stare at the screen. It's not the ideal time if the monster or hunter is directly on top of you. This is indicated by a blazing red splash on the screen. You're good to go as the redness subsides. The heart-pounding sound effect will also go away at this point.
However, there are three ways to fail in these situations. You'll be caught if you don't hit the button to hold your breath in the first place. Second, you'll be caught if you let go of your breath too quickly. Finally, if you never let go of the button, the red bars on the screen will completely tick down, and your character will let out a loud gasp. You're going to get caught if you do this.
