Laura and Max will have to deal with Travis a lot throughout their stay in prison. While Travis is clearly a bad person, he has motives for his actions, and understanding those reasons is crucial to Laura's later survival. Laura will accompany Ryan to the Hackett residence after her meeting with the counselors. Things start to get risky for her at this point. The Hacketts are a deadly family, and given that one of the first things Laura will do when she arrives is murder Constance Hackett, the gloves are off. Running, hiding, and passing skill checks make up a large part of this phase of the game. You must bring your A-game here because a missing skill check could spell disaster for Laura. When it comes to making decisions, all you have to do is keep moving and concealing. Hide in the bath when you enter the bathroom to evade Jedediah, who will enter after you.

The entire segment will end in a fight between Laura, Travis, Ryan, Bobby, and Chris Hackett's werewolf form. You'll be in charge of Ryan here, and you'll have to shoot Chris as he approaches. Laura, who had recently turned into a werewolf, will be turned back into a human, and Ryan will be cured of his illness. This is a critical point because if Laura had a strained relationship with Travis, attempted to take his gun, and most crucially, shot him, he will stab her to death with a shard of glass before taking up the shotgun and shooting Ryan.
