In video games, motion controls are generally hit-or-miss. Some people, particularly shooters, adore them and swear by the accuracy they enable. Others would much rather use stick controllers to manage their aiming because they have nightmares about the Wii era. When you launch Splatoon 3, motion controls are activated by default, meaning you must move your joy-con or pro controller to aim. Here's how to disable the motion controls in Splatoon 3 if you find them bothersome.
How to disable motion controls in Splatoon 3
When you initially launch Splatoon 3 on a profile, you will be taken through a brief tutorial where you can customize the appearance of your character and through an obstacle course. During this time, the game teaches you how to use motion controls, which necessitates pressing Y to reset the camera when you find yourself in an awkward situation. You will have to wait until you have finished this section in order to modify it if you do not like how this feels.
Your character will board a train and depart for the city once you've finished the lesson. After that, Deep Cut will introduce themselves and run through their schedule for the day. You will be able to control your character in the city once that is finished. To access the menu, press X, and then click R to access Options. There is an option to disable motion controls in either handheld mode or TV/Tabletop Mode.
At the top of the page, there is an option to simply change the motion control sensitivity. You can set one side to be on while the other is off if you prefer the motion controls for one mode over the other. So, if you like it in handheld mode but want to use the Pro Controller sticks when you play on your TV, you can change them here.
