Horizon Forbidden West: How to capture Survey Drones

Drone surveys aren't something you're likely to hear about straight away. In fact, you might not hear them stated until halfway through the game. These drones allow you to safely view biomes from the Base, but you must first establish a link with them. In Horizon Forbidden West, this is how you capture the Survey Drones.

You will have access to the Base once you have completed the Eye of the Earth assignment. This region serves as a key centre for you and your teammates. You will be able to come and leave from the base whenever you choose after a long talk with Gaia. A terminal connected to the Survey Drones may be found inside the dome where Gaia is. The drones, Gaia will explain to Aloy, are used to survey the area and display it in the dome.

Drones can be found in the open world once you've left the location. Drones are rather easy to identify. They appear like blue spots in the sky with blue light beams emanating from them. You can scan a drone's flight route with your Focus once you've spotted it.

The trick to bringing down a drone and obtaining its data is to capture it rather than destroy it. This is accomplished by climbing to a high vantage point and leaping onto the drone. When it hits the ground, Aloy will drag it down and disable it. Return to the Base's interface to establish a link with the drone.
