Horizon Forbidden West: How to complete the Shadow in the West side quest

Horizon Forbidden West's Shadow in the West is a side quest obtained by completing the Shadow From the Past side quest. In No Man's Land, Aloy obtains a list of coordinates, which she is obligated to follow in case The Ecplise is going to slaughter more innocent people. This guide will show you how to complete the quest and provide you some advice on how to defeat the boss.

Step 1: Enter the camp by following the map pointer.

You'll be given a map point for The Eclipse's camp, which you must follow across No Man's Land until you arrive. You'll need to kill a few Eclipse members outside the gate, as well as a couple of nearby Scroungers who will most likely join the fight. Human foes can be easily dispatched with a big gun, whereas machines are best dealt with with a bow.

Step 2: Enter the camp and clear it out.

Sneak into the camp by following the path that has been opened for you. There is one enemy to defeat before entering, but there are many more once inside. This struggle can soon spiral out of control, so stay as quiet as possible.

The Longleg machine is swift and causes a lot of damage with its scorching strike, so try to dispatch it as soon as possible once it engages you in combat. There are plenty of environmental traps for you to exploit, so save your ammo and kill as many human adversaries as possible by throwing rocks at them or bursting nearby barrels.

Once you've killed all of the adversaries in this camp, you'll need to enter the main building. Inside, there are some captives in a cage, so liberate them before going through the next door to confront Vezreh. It's also a good idea to have a good supply of healing items on hand for the next phase.

Step 3: Kill Vezreh and his Ravager

This side quest's boss is Vezreh, although the struggle isn't simply against him. He's accompanied by a vicious Ravager who battles with him. The Ravager will rush Aloy and try to hit her with melee attacks as soon as the conflict begins. It also charges up an electrical wave attack, which you can avoid by pressing the circle button at the last possible moment.

Because this Ravager is vulnerable to acid damage, use all of your acid weapons to build up the effect and watch it burn. You'll have to repeat this process a few times before the machine is brought down, but targeting the machine's weak places, the blue section on its belly and the two pink canisters on its back, will inflict more damage than other bullets. Collect any parts as soon as this machine is down, for once Vezreh is gone, you won't have another chance.

Vezreh will start closing in with his heavy gun once you've killed the Ravager. Use any remaining impediments to hide from the gunfire and attack him with acid or fire. This will hasten his death, after which you will view a cutscene in which he blows up the chamber.

Step 4: Find the Datapoints

The final phase of this side quest asks you to search Vezreh's quarters for three Datapoints. One is near the main camp's exit, but if you turn around and continue down the corridor, you'll find another in a different area. The Pullcaster can be used to rip the vent in this chamber open, revealing a third Datapoint in a hidden area. Once you've completed this, speak to the NPC to finish the side mission.
