Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel: How do Pendulum cards work

Some of the new summoning mechanisms may be puzzling at first if you're a returning Yu-Gi-Oh fan picking up Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel as your first venture into the competitive card game in a long time. Many of the new summoning techniques, especially the Pendulum cards, may appear to be magic or cheating at first glance, depending on when you last picked up a duel disc. Don't worry, Pendulum Summoning appears to be more difficult than it is. In Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel, here's how Pendulum cards function.

What are Pendulum Cards and How Do They Work?

Pendulum cards are unique monster cards that have a distinctive green lower half. Pendulum monsters, unlike other new types of monsters like XYZ and Link, go into the main deck and can be used like regular monsters. Pendulum cards are unique in that they have a Pendulum level in addition to a monster level, which is represented by the gem icon on the card. Pendulum summoning is accomplished by placing two Pendulum monsters on opposite sides of your spell zone.

You can summon any Pendulum monsters from your hand that are in the same level range as the two Pendulum monsters on the field once each turn. You can summon monsters of levels 3 through 7 if the one on the left is a 2 and the one on the right is an 8. You can only summon one monster per turn, but you can summon as many as you like. Both Pendulum monsters in the spelling zone are put face up on the extra deck if they are destroyed. In addition to the card from your hand, one face-up Pendulum monster from the extra deck can be summoned while Pendulum summoning.
