Tunic: How to get the shield
Tunic looks a lot like the traditional Legend of Zelda series, but you'll need a familiar-looking red-and-blue striped shield if you truly want your faithful little fox to look the part. Unlike in many other Zelda games, the shield takes a while to appear, and some players may miss it entirely. This is where you'll find it.
You can obtain the shield as soon as you obtain the sword, which will provide you entrance to the Overworld's western region. The Old Town Ruins may be found to the west of the central shrine. The Old House, a quaint little home with a locked entrance, may be found near the ladder down to the main area. You'll be able to get in there once you get the Old House Key to the south.
The interior of the Old House looks unimpressive at first glance. There is a chest, but it just contains a single coin, which is hardly adequate compensation for your efforts. However, if you look behind the curtain on the left, you'll discover a secret passage.
You'll emerge in a cavern, with the shield lying in plain sight on the floor, if you follow the light pipe. As a bonus, if you flip the lever, the gate will open, allowing you to continue (along with a cheeky shortcut back to the central Overworld shrine).
You can proceed to the West Garden with the shield in hand, where the Magic Dagger and the Garden Knight await you. The happy ringing of the bells.
