Tunic: How to get the sword
The first weapon you may pick up in Tunic is a simple stick, and while it works against some early-game monsters, having something pointier would make things a lot easier. You can also locate a sword throughout the game, however, you'll have to fight your way through a slew of foes to get to it.
You must first locate the first Hero's Grave in the East Forest in order to obtain the sword. Because your regrettably bladeless stick can't cut through bushes, this is its own riddle, but after you get past the closed door in the southeast, you'll be well on your way. Make your way east and south through the forest until you reach the second guard tower. You can go inside and open the chest if you like, but the better route is to turn right.
Make your way to the lever in the Hero's Grave region by fighting your way past the opponents. You'll have to combat a couple of Rudelings as you make your way around the bushes by the gate and over the top. Be cautious around them: you may not yet have any health-restoring goods, and they may take a lot of hits from your humble stick before succumbing. Once the gate is open, proceed to the top of the stairwell to get your treasure.
Surprisingly, there's a second sword hidden in Tunic as well. You're unlikely to find it in regular play until you learn more about the Holy Cross and other secrets, but it could come in handy if you wish to skip some of the early games in future playthroughs.
You can find a closed-door beneath the Garden Knight's platform if you arrive early to the West Garden and employ creative shortcuts and hidden passageways. You can get this secret weapon by tapping out the directional pattern on the door with your D-pad or arrow buttons, starting with the diamond. You won't be able to pick it up if you already have a sword.
