Final Fantasy XIV: How to get a house in Ishgard’s Empyreum ward
With the release of Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.1, the Ishgard Empyreum housing has finally opened after a two-year wait. Square Enix has changed how players can receive a house in Ishgard's Empyreum, rather than the first-come, first-served bonanza of previous residential wards. Players have four days to purchase plots in Ishgard's Empyreum through auctions, but first, they must complete a mission to introduce the area. Many players have already completed the tasks in preparation for the house release, but if you haven't, it's only a short walk away.
Completing the unlock quest
A man named Gondelimbaud (check the coordinates 9.9, 11.8) may be found at the Foundation Aetheryte Plaza, offering the task Ascending to Empyreum. Take this quest and travel to Brume to find Thomelin (14.2, 12.5), then sit back and enjoy the cutscene. After that, you'll go to Highmorn Herald (11.6, 14.4) to learn about the housing district. Return to the Foundation Aetheryte Plaza and turn the quest into Gondelimbaud to complete the mission. Go to the Ishgard Empyreum and participate in the lottery.
Ishgard Empyreum purchase system
As previously stated, Square Enix chose not to use the previous housing arrangement for the Ishgard Empyreum. Instead of a housing shortage, gamers can look around neighborhoods (wards) and buy a lottery ticket for a specific house. Players can only buy a raffle ticket for one plot of land; the raffle will be held four days later, and the winner will be told that they have won the plot of land. In Final Fantasy XIV, Wards 1 through 18 is reserved for Free Companies, whereas Wards 19-24 are private housing for single people.
Pricing is determined by plot size, while facilities such as market boards and summons bells appear to be directly tied to competitiveness. The following are the raffle prices:
- Small plot — 3,000,000 – 3,750,000 gil.
- Medium plot — 17,000,000 – 20,000,000 gil.
- Large plot — 47,500,000 – 50,000,000 gil.
The battle for plots is already fierce one hour into the Ishgard Empyreum's launch, with most plots already having numerous entries. On April 16, at 11:00 a.m. ET, the results will be available to view. To receive a complete refund, all lottery players who did not win the house must claim their lottery entrance money during the results period.
