MLB The Show 22: How to play with friends

Baseball is a sport that is far more enjoyable to play with friends. People you know who enjoy the sport can make the experience far more enjoyable than doing it alone or with strangers. There are several game modes in MLB The Show 22 that allow you to play America's pastime with your pals online. Here's how to go about it.

Exhibition

Start by clicking your profile icon on the main menu in the top left corner of the screen if you just want to play a regular baseball game with current rosters. This will lead you to your newly formed ballplayer, where you can pick Friends from My Profile. Friends that have The Show on their console will appear on your friend list right away, but if you wish to play with someone on another platform, go to Requests and fill in their MLB The Show name completely.

When you've found someone you want to play with, go to your buddy list and pick them, then press Invite to Exhibition Game. After that, you'll be able to set up game preferences and wait for them to join. If you receive an invitation, check the notifications on your console to accept it. We have yet to discover an in-game location where the invites are saved as of this writing.

Diamond Dynasty

To play Diamond Dynasty with a buddy, go to the Diamond Dynasty menu and pick Online Modes from the Play menu. When you select Play vs. Friends, your friend list will appear. You will not be rewarded for playing individuals you know because this is not a rated mode.

Home Run Derby

Select the game mode and then Play Online to play a Home Run Derby with your pals. You'll be led to a screen where you can choose the slugger you'd like to play as, and then vote on which ballpark you'd want to hit in. If they've created a lobby, their name will appear here when you select Play With Friends. If you want to host a lobby, click Create Lobby and wait for people to join. There is no method to directly invite them to your lobby.

Online Co-op

Finally, choose 2v2 or 3v3 as the game mode for Online Co-op with a friend. A plus symbol and a magnifying glass will appear on the following screen. Selecting the plus button will bring up your buddy list, which you can use to choose random people to join your team.
