Cuphead DLC: How to get an S Rank
When taking on the new bosses in Cuphead's The Delicious Last Course DLC, do you want to earn S Ranks? The good news is that they are the same as those for earning an S Rank in the original game. Read on for a detailed explanation of each parameter on the results screen in case you need a refresher on what that means.
Time Requirements for S Rank
Here, the key to success is speed. Beat the boss in under two minutes and ten seconds. This is difficult since you have to keep inflicting damage on the boss. Since it can cross the entire screen and has no additional gimmicks, the normal Peashooter is perfect for this.
HP Bonus Requirements for S Rank
In Cuphead, you generally don't want to get hit. The 0/3 in the results list indicates that you must finish the battle with three HP remaining. You really have a buffer in this situation if you're using the Heart item, the Twin Hearts item, or if you're playing as Miss Chalice. As it heals health after enough parries, the new Heart Ring item can also be used in this situation. You should be fine as long as you survive the battle with 3 HP.
S Rank Requirements – Parry
You must perform at least three successful parries during the fight in order to do this. That's rather simple, but keep in mind that forced parries don't count. For instance, to escape being zapped on the ground during the final phase of The Howling Aces boss battle, you must deflect a laser. Parrying any other flying objects during the combat would count toward this, but not doing so wouldn't.
S Rank Requirements – Super Meter
You can fulfill this criterion using any of your super moves, regardless of which one you currently have equipped. You'll need to use six cards' worth of extraordinary energy to get there. You can execute this in any order, but keep in mind that the meter only goes up to five, so you'll need to add another shot after releasing the strongest strike. Another crucial point is that the boss must be hit by the super strike in order for it to count toward this.
Skill Level Requirements for S Rank
Finally, since doing either Simple or Normal won't allow you an S Rank, make sure you defeat the boss on Expert difficulty. For instance, if you complete every prerequisite on Normal, your highest grade will be an A+. You must complete the initial Cuphead game in order to access Expert mode. When encountering each boss, it can then be chosen.
