While being accepted into a cult may obviously suggest some degree of indoctrination, maintaining one's faith is a constant challenge in the Cult of the Lamb. It's crucial to periodically check in while on crusades to make sure your followers aren't beginning to doubt the predictions you're handing down. When your faith level falls too low, dissenters may start to appear in your ranks, which can cause a massive wave of leadership uncertainty.
In that regard, the Brainwash ritual works well as a babysitter. It firmly anchors your followers' beliefs for a period of two days. Because your flock is utterly stoned out of their minds, you no longer need to worry about dissenters. Here's how to use brainwashing to your advantage in Cult of the Lamb.
Acquiring the Brainwashing Ritual
You must first conduct some investigation in Anura in order to locate the brainwashing procedure. Seven followers are needed to open the gate. Once inside, be sure to properly inspect each area. In search of menticide mushrooms, mushroom people have set up camp nearby. Avoid attacking them. Converse with them instead, and they'll tell you about their leader and the Spore Grotto. The area on your world map is now visible.
Returning to your camp will let you visit Spore Grotto and speak with Sozo, a "mushroom researcher." The first assignment he gives you is to locate 10 mushrooms. These can be planted to cultivate yourself, or you can find them growing in Anura. Sozo will give you a piece of the talisman once you have 10 mushrooms and then request that you bring him 20 more. Gather all the necessary mushrooms, then come back. The Brainwashing ritual will then be taught to you by him.
Using the Brainwashing Ritual
Just head to your temple altar to perform the Brainwashing Ritual. Select it, then select the rites option. You should now be capable of being brainwashed. But there's a problem. You require 25 mushrooms instead of the typical number of bones used in a ritual (12 if you have researched cheaper rituals). Just keep in mind that after the initial pleasant effect wears off, there is a high likelihood that the cultists will become ill. It is wise to be ready for that scenario because the buildup of excrement and vomit may lead to the rites option.

If you leave it unattended for too long, your compound can become a deserted wasteland.
